  • Tell us about your family. How do you feel about relocating?:
I was raised up by my single-mother and my grandparents on my mom’s side. I lived with my grandparents and their younger kids (my mom’s siblings, since she is the oldest) in my childhood time. It was a big and warm extended family! I am my mother’s only child. She did her best to raise me up, nurture me, and support me. She is a brave, kind, and honorable mother. Since my father was absent in my life for about 10 years, I am not that close to him emotionally. After high school, I started visiting him occasionally, and after college, I visit him and his new family each summer break. I am wide open to relocate (but would prayerfully discern if that’s the direction from the Lord), and surrender my path and any relocation in my life to our Lord.
  • How old were you when you were drawn to Christ and how is your Christian walk these days?:
I was twenty-two years old when I became a follower of Christ. The Lord has been so faithful and showing his steadfast love to me since then. Through the Word, the fellowship with the saints, God’s exposure of my sins, his transformation and calling to repent and believe over and over again, my faith in Christ has been deepened and my life has been and is continuously being shaped by the gospel! The gracious and merciful Lord has been holding me fast, humbling me, and growing me in love and wisdom as He enables me to walk after and walk with Him.
  • How have the Doctrines of Grace changed or affected your life?:
My life belongs to my gracious Lord. I live no longer for myself, my security/comfort, or others’ respect, but for the glory and the kingdom of my Father, King, Redeemer, and Lord. The grace of God moves my heart to seek God, depend on Him, treasure God’s covenantal relationship with me, and imitate Him to lay down myself for others. The Doctrines of Grace free me from my shame and guilt due to my sins and weaknesses and encourage me to run to God for the help, the grace, and the glorious promise that only He can give.
  • Do you have a "Quiet Time?" What are you studying?:
Usually I have my morning quiet time (once I wake up) and evening quiet time (before I go to sleep) every day. I’ve been studying the Psalms and the book of Jeremiah recently. I also read Paul Tripp’s daily devotional “New Morning Mercies” this year. In my quiet time for reading (not for regular Bible reading and devotion), I am reading/studying biblical counseling and theological/hermeneutics books. Right now I am reading "Speaking truth in love" by David Powlison, "Suffering" by Paul Tripp, and "Interpreting Eden" by Vern S. Poythress.
  • Who is your favorite Biblical Character and why?:
My favorite Biblical Character is David. He is a man after God’s own heart – not because of how great he is, but because he is a man who obeyed the Spirit’s direction, sought God and repented quickly after he sinned. It is an important sign of spiritual maturity that a Christian deals with his/her sins honestly, repents quicker and quicker after sinning, seeks God by faith for restoration and transformation, and rejoices in His salvation and depends on Him more and more.
  • Are you content being single? Why? If not, why?:
I am content being single. This life-stage of singleness is a good gift from the Lord for me to have a lot of time to concentrate on studying God’s Word and caring about many other people. God faithfully helps me deal with my struggles and satisfies me in Himself. As John Piper said, “God is most glorified when we are most satisfied in Him.” I do desire and look forward to marriage (Lord willing) – two sinners in God’s grace grow together, pursue God together, support each other, sacrifice for one another, love and live for God’s glory together.
  • What are four qualities your friends would attribute to you?:
    Gentle, compassionate, wise, diligent
  • What are three things you are most thankful for?:
I am most thankful for being saved and continuously transformed by Jesus Christ! I am thankful for having my mother as my mother (who is not a believer yet, but by God’s grace and mercy, she is a gentle, courageous, nurturing, and sacrificial mother) in my life. I am thankful that God gives me a heart to love Him and love people, gives me gifts to understand others’ struggles, relate to different people, and encourage them to seek and trust in the Lord by faith, and thankful that God provides me opportunities to learn from faithful Bible teachers and have a group of godly friends to study God’s Word and pursue Him together in my current seminary.
  • Describe the character and personality traits you enjoy in another person? What are yours?:
The character and personality traits you enjoy in another person: loves the triune God above anything; commits himself to God's Word and growth in personal godliness; humility, honesty and loyalty, courage (faith in Christ), patience and perseverance; open, insightful and care about people, cheerful; has a good sense of balancing head, heart, and hand Mine (by God’s grace and mercy): devote to God and commit myself to God's Word and personal godliness; humility (growing in humility), honesty and loyalty, courage, patience, diligence; thoughtful, open, insightful, compassionate and care about people, easy-going, adventurous, flexible, have a good sense of balancing head, heart, and hand
  • Other than your parents, who has been the most influential person in your life and how?:
It is hard to answer this “most” question since a hand of people in my life are very influential, and I appreciate them a lot. Here I would say, the lady who led me to Christ (or say the lady that God used as His means of grace to lead me to Christ) has been the most influential person in my life. Before I became a Christian, this lady showed selfless love by visiting me weekly, taking me to grocery stores (I didn’t have a car at that time), asking me what stress or struggle I had in my first year in the American graduate school, talking with me and helping me deal with my struggles, helping me improve my English and understand American culture… Those looked like small things, but I experienced honest friendship and love that I never experienced before through them. Additionally, she talked with me about the Bible and spiritual issues. And she answered many questions about Christian faith from me. She prayed for me and challenged me to admit that I am a sinner and I need Christ in my life. And the Spirit worked in my heart through her words and convicted me. She also helped me grow in Christ since I was a “baby Christian.” She intentionally kept certain appropriate distance with me when she noticed that I may rely on her more than relying on the Lord while I was growing, and lovingly pointed out that it was my problem. In that way, she pointed me to Christ and helped me learn to depend on God fully and not to let other people get in the way of my personal relationship with God. She is such a precious spiritual mother and friend! I cannot thank God more for putting her in my life to bless and help me.
  • What contributed to your previous relationship/marriage ending?:
I only had one serious romantic relationship before. The unclarity of the other person’s repentance related to some serious issues contributed to its ending.
  • How long have you been on your own since and what did you to do get through it?:
It’s been seven years. I got through it by examining myself before the Lord (confessed sins on my side and asked for God’s forgiveness), forgiving, reading and meditating on God’s Word, listening to hymns, seeking help and strength from Him, and talking and praying with close friends.
  • Favorite lines from movies, poems, songs, hymns or Scripture you would like to tell us about?:
“Those He saves are His delight, Christ will hold me fast; Precious in his holy sight, He will hold me fast. He'll not let my soul be lost; His promises shall last; Bought by Him at such a cost, He will hold me fast.” – You will hold me fast “Now, Lord, I would be Yours alone And live so all might see The strength to follow Your commands Could never come from me O Father, use my ransomed life In any way You choose And let my song forever be My only boast is You” – All I have is Christ “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” – Galatians 2:20 (ESV)
  • What type of work do/did you do?:
I used to be a professional mental health counselor and worked with children, high-school students, college and graduate students, and low-income and marginalized population. Now I am a seminary student, and intern as a biblical counselor.
  • How long have you been/were you in that line of work? Do/you enjoy it?:
Four years. I do enjoy and love it!
  • Do you have any life-long goals? What are they?:
My life-long goals are: 1. Become and be a biblical counselor who imitates Christ, loves people, and is faithful to God’s Word and mission! 2. Lord willing, commit in a kingdom-minded local church with that the Lord will lead me to, in order to love God and his people, make disciples, make Him known, and partner together with like-minded Christians in church to build up the body of Christ (under the authority of the eldership in church). 3. Lord willing, establish a Christ-centered and grace-driven family, build it up with my life-long partner (future spouse), respect and submit to my future spouse's headship, and faithfully raise up children together. By God's grace and mercy, we witness and glorify God in every aspect of our lives.
  • Where were you born and where have you traveled?:
I was born in Yujiang, Jiangxi Provence in South China. I have been to Florida, Ohio, Missouri, Kentucky, Alabama, New Jersey, New York City, Washington DC, Baltimore, and Boston in the United States.
  • Is there anything that the questionnaire didn’t cover?:
  • O mnie:
I am a simple and serious Christian who is saved by the Lord Jesus Christ and dependent on His grace and mercy to love Him, love others and live for his glory. I am looking for a godly man and brother who is dedicated to the Lord and His kingdom and potentially, Lord willing, has a heart for China. I've been actively involved in my church in the States (a Christ-centered and mission-driven church) and taking short-term mission trips to engage in ministries back in China. Lord willing and by His grace, I dedicate myself to the Lord and the people and churches in China as a follower of Christ and biblical counselor.
