  • Tell us about your family. How do you feel about relocating?:
My family is spread out in the midwest, 'Home' is Michigan, so far as it goes, but I've lived in Kansas for more than a decade, and I have an awesome community here, and job that I am grateful for and I'll probably be here for at least the next few years.
  • How old were you when you were drawn to Christ and how is your Christian walk these days?:
I was raised in a Christian home, by Godly and wise parents. I came to Christ young, maybe 6-7 years old, but it was in my teens that my faith became my own, and that I truly understood God's sacrifice for us. Now I am an active church participant, and seeking to build a life with Christ as its center. -small grin- Hopefully, I can find a partner for that endeavor.
  • How have the Doctrines of Grace changed or affected your life?:
An interesting question. Its important to point out that I am not a 5-point Calvinist by any means. But I've moved further that direction in the last few years. I'd be happy to talk about my reservations, theological discussions are one of my very favorite things, and I think it points directly to the "as Iron sharpens Iron, so one man sharpens another." verse. That qualifier out there, the doctrines of grace has had a decent impact on me. I have many friends who I believe to be theologically sound that believe them to be true entirely. And I don't have any issue with that, I think that the bible doesn't cover every issue that we think up with fully laid out explanations. And I think because of that, our focus should be on God and trying to follow him every day. When I graduated Highschool, I was very into debating theology, almost zealous about it. But over time, I think its become much more important to talk to each other with love and understanding, and to search for the truth of God's scripture earnestly. Honestly, I think the debates are really important, but they can be taken to unhealthy extremes.
  • Do you have a "Quiet Time?" What are you studying?:
I don't have the most consistent quiet time, but I try. I have been noticing that I don't spend as much time praying as I think I should, and that is my next 'topic' to go through. Though I certainly rabbit trail from those quite a bit as different topics present themselves.
  • Who is your favorite Biblical Character and why?:
Jesus. jk. thats obviously a really hard question. I like Paul a lot because the way he writes is the way my brain works, everything he says just makes sense to me. But my favorite character in the bible would be Caleb. Caleb was one of the Jews sent into the promised land to survey it before the Exodus started. Caleb came back and despite the giants in the land, the armies and so on, Caleb said "God has given us this land, of course we will win" while everyone else that came back was afraid, and didn't trust God's power. I look up to that strength of faith in God, and the conviction to stand up for it despite other's choices.
  • Are you content being single? Why? If not, why?:
I think I am content. Its been a long road to get there, and there are times that I am frustrated about it, but I know in my heart that God's plan is what is best for me. And I am fully ready and willing to wait however long it takes for God to show me the one.
  • What are four qualities your friends would attribute to you?:
    Loyal, honest, servant, generous.
  • What are three things you are most thankful for?:
Family and friends, hands down. My family is amazing, and we're pretty close (though geographically a little spread out). I'm blessed beyond words at the Family i grew up with. Friends; I was in Navigator's ministry as a college student, and the friends I've made there are deep and I have some really great relationships with those guys. Church. My church is fantastic, welcoming, and striving to be a Godly church in everything. The dedication to trying to live by God's law is humbling and I'm grateful for the examples set by them. And i'll throw in there that my pastor is fantastic. I looked for years for a church that taught 'exegetically'. Creation. Being able to walk in the world and look around at God's design, how intricate and complex it is. The variety. Sometimes it just gets to me how incredible God's creation really is.
  • Describe the character and personality traits you enjoy in another person? What are yours?:
Honesty, I'm a very forthright person, and I'll assume you'll tell the truth until you prove otherwise. I'm probably more open than i need to be, but I like to know people beyond 'how are you'. And I value the willingness to trust others, and to share lives. I think today's "facebook" society is missing a lot of the aspects of the deeper more personal relationships that we as humans were created to have. Curiosity. I am always looking at "why" and "what if" and "how". Its natural for me to try to understand everything. And I have a lot of fun exploring things with others. There is a feel about a person who is Christ-minded, something not easy to describe, but joyful comes to mind. Quirky. Its the little things that make you different and weird that make you unique. And those can be fun, or annoying, but they make you, you. Overcomer. Life is a difficult thing, and I'm not in it to always to the easy thing, or drop out when it gets hard. I value perseverance and dedication.
  • Other than your parents, who has been the most influential person in your life and how?:
A year ago my answer would have been different, but right now I think its my best friend. I've watched him go through some really really rough situations in the last 5-6 years. And I've watched as every time he's gone to God, and sought to be as like Christ as he can. Its really been inspiring, and in many ways he's become a role model for me in several aspects of his life.
  • What contributed to your previous relationship/marriage ending?:
Its difficult to put into words, but I think there were a few reasons. The first was that I wasn't ready to be a husband yet, and came to recognize that. And secondly, that I hadn't really known what I was looking for in a wife yet. And the last thing, though i didn't know it at the time, was that I was looking for marriage for the wrong reasons too. I wanted to have a wife "for me". But marriage isn't about "me" its primarily about God. And us together should serve God better than us apart.
  • How long have you been on your own since and what did you to do get through it?:
I left my last relationship a little more than 7 years ago. Since then, I've completed my college degree, got a job, and matured a lot. I'm not sure what "get through it" means, but I'll grant that I have had good and bad stretches in that time. But only in the last year have i started to look for a relationship again. I think my ducks are in a row now, and for the first time in a while, I think that pursuing a relationship would be a Godly thing to do, instead of a selfish one. Certainly the friends I developed in Navs at college have been a huge part of it. I can go to them with anything, and they provide an ear to talk to, or a challenging word to knock me back on track, or a Joke to snap me out of it.
  • Favorite lines from movies, poems, songs, hymns or Scripture you would like to tell us about?:
oh gosh, this would take too long. But, I'll say that my favorite quote is "Nothing is so strong as gentleness and nothing is so gentle as real strength.” -Saint Francis de Sales. My favorite book is Ecclesiastes. And one of my favorite hymns is "Blessed be Your Name"
  • What type of work do/did you do?:
I work in tech/data, and I work with large databases for financial planning firms. Its not really a 'oh wow' thing, but I really like it because I like puzzles, and data is all one big puzzle for me to solve.
  • How long have you been/were you in that line of work? Do/you enjoy it?:
I've been at my current place since I graduated college last year, and hope to stick around for a while.
  • Do you have any life-long goals? What are they?:
a few. - I want to live a life trying to follow Christ. - I want to raise a family whose life-long goal is the same. - I want to be an encourager to others, and leave lives i meet better than i found them. - I want to speak the truth with love, and I want to kneel before the throne and be told 'well done'.
  • Where were you born and where have you traveled?:
I'm from Michigan, and I've been to quite a few states, but only on vacations. I've been out of the country 1.5 times. Once to the Dominican Republic on a missions trip, and .5 because Canada doesn't really count if you've lived in Michigan for as long as I did. hehehe
  • How do you enjoy your leisure time? What do you do for recreation?:
I like to read, I watch movies, I golf. I play Dungeons and Dragons, (and love it, and while I grant some people can play it dishonorably, I try to play in a God-honoring way. I'd love to tell you about it.) I play video games, board games, card games, do puzzles. and just generally hang out with friends and family.
  • Is there anything that the questionnaire didn’t cover?:
I'm on the credo-baptist side of that debate. I'm probably a complementarian, I think the bible is clear that women should not hold pastoral positions. And I am vehemently pro-life. I'm politically conservative, sometimes libertarian.
  • O mnie:
I took a longer road through college than most, but God's plan is sovereign. I am a thinker, I'm creative, but not artsy. I love to design things, and have been considering writing a book someday. I like to read fantasy and scifi, I use video games to interact and spend time with family and friends across distances (and enjoy them). I'm very forthright, and also a verbal processor, so sometimes my thoughts spiral off and I start explaining way more than I need to. I love to have fun, I love spending time with friends and hanging out. I'm politically conservative. I'm not sure what else to put here. Ah, I'm fantastic on a grill, and I make a really really good bbq ribs. And i'm interested to get to know you. I know a lot of what I'm looking for, and hopefully God blesses this. Not to quote Captain America, but I DO want to learn to swing dance, I'm just "waiting for the right partner" (heh heh)
