On the subject of children

I would like to have children one day

Tell us about your family. How do you feel about relocating?

My step father married my mom 42 years ago in Tennessee where I grew up.   He was a research chemist at Eastman, Renaissance man, musician, and traveler.   So for the many last years we step kids  headed home to share holidays with them.   My mom died of Alzheimers in 1990.   Bob was surprised the glue stuck…but we adored his company.    He promised to go for 102…but he surprised us and died two days after finally moving to assisted living after his 101st birthday.  Has left a huge hole in my heart to have him gone.    One sister is married in St. Louis.   One sister is recently widowed in Tennessee.   My brother and his wife are also in Tennessee..

My strong spiritual family is here, but I would consider relocating.

How old were you when you were drawn to Christ and how is your Christian walk these days?

My walk with the Lord began early at a small Presbyterian Church.    My mom’s best friend was the Sunday School teacher who shared about Jesus’s great love…I responded immediately.    After college and a year working with missionaries in South Korea, I went to a small Bible school for two years.    Prayer groups and Bible studies have been a vital part of my life as well as attending church and serving in various ways.   Over Covid, we have had a group of us gathering and singing with old hymnbooks outside in lawn chairs .

How have the Doctrines of Grace changed or affected your life?

Do you have a "Quiet Time?" What are you studying?

It has been exciting to see the Lord’s sovereign leading my career path, friend circle, and spiritual pathways.  I rest in His finished work on the cross…my service is gratitude.

Who is your favorite Biblical Character and why?

Yes.   Usually I have two old favorite devotionals, readings in Scripture, and prayer time.   Currently, I am in a Jen Wilkens Women’s study on Hebrews with a group of ladies from church.

Are you content being single? Why? If not, why?

Joseph has been my dearest hero.   He had so many years of walking before the Lord in difficult circumstances and maintained a strong heart before the Lord.   His confident affirmation that  “God meant it for good…”  before the Lord has held me tightly and reminded me Who orchestrates our days.

What are four qualities your friends would attribute to you?

My dream has always been to share life with a man of strong faith.

What are three things you are most thankful for?

Devoted friend

Opener of home and heart..hospitality

Prayer partner

Art aficionado and teacher of children

Describe the character and personality traits you enjoy in another person? What are yours?

Coming to know the Lord early in life and enjoying the journey together with Him

Strong Christian friends, church, and family

Creation and creativity

Other than your parents, who has been the most influential person in your life and how?

Kindness, integrity, wisdom

What contributed to your previous relationship/marriage ending?

My mom’s friend who led me to the Lord.  She is now 94.    I’ve listened to David Jeremiah on the radio for many years and Ravi Zacharias.

How long have you been on your own since and what did you to do get through it?

I was hoping for someone that would share more deeply His walk with the Lord and make serving Him a part of our relationship.

Favorite lines from movies, poems, songs, hymns or Scripture you would like to tell us about?

My last relationship was 10 years ago.    Hunkering down and trusting the Lord afresh.   Reminding myself that Jeremiah 29:11 is still true.

What type of work do/did you do?

Oh, the Deep Deep Love of Jesus

Colossians  3

How long have you been/were you in that line of work? Do/you enjoy it?

Teaching 40 years….regular classroom 9 …art 30   1 year with missionary kids in Korea

One other year drafting for a land planning firm at the beginning

Do you have any life-long goals? What are they?

Teaching art was a perfect fit for me…it includes history, science, math, intelligent design, beauty….the record of God’s creativity through all centuries through His image bearers.     I loved helping kids challenge themselves to excellence and sharing with them the struggles of artists to make meaningful works of art.

Where were you born and where have you traveled?

To love mercy…to do justice…and to walk humbly with my God.

How do you enjoy your leisure time? What do you do for recreation?

Oak Ridge, Tennessee.    South Korea, China, Canada, Mexico, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Israel twice, many countries in Europe on several visits…almost all 50 states.

Is there anything that the questionnaire didn’t cover?

Live concerts…the symphony…hospitality ( I have worked with a group called International Link for 15 years..and hosted dinners) , home projects, creating art, reading,

Walking several times a week  with friends

Some pilates and yoga classes at the YMCA

About Me

I’m tall and a bit reserved.    In the personality types I’m mostly a beaver golden retriever, though you might see a bit of otter  on occasion.  Small groups of good conversation and deep thinking are more satisfying than a big group dynamic.  My desire is to be used of the Lord and still on His path when He calls me.  Am still trying to figure out what retirement looks like.   Have always hoped for someone to share this time with serving and traveling.
