|Tell us about your family. How do you feel about relocating?||
Our family is really close and at times I cannot see myself without them. However, if relocating brings God more glory than staying, I am willing to relocate.
|How old were you when you were drawn to Christ and how is your Christian walk these days?||
I was born into a Protestant / Catholic family who taught me at a young age the existence of God and the need for Jesus. Like in Albert Simpson’s hymn “Himself” I grew up wanting Christ’s blessing, Christ’s gifts and Christ’s healing; however, I never truly knew the Lord. I thought I was a Christian but my walk would say something different. Taking the imagery found in Pilgrim’s Progress, I don’t know when I left the City of Destruction and started my journey towards the Celestial City, but I cannot turn back. Although I stumble along the way, I am learning to depend on my Lord and Saviour for His strength and righteous.
|How have the Doctrines of Grace changed or affected your life?||
It has helped me rest in the arms of my heavenly Father. They remind me of Heidelberg Catechism Question and Answer 1 which states:
Q. What is your only comfort in life and death?
A. That I am not my own, but belong with body and soul, both in life and in death, to my faithful Saviour Jesus Christ. He has fully paid for all my sins with His precious blood, and has set me free from all the power of the devil. He also preserves me in such a way that without the will of my heavenly Father not a hair can fall from my head; indeed, all things must work together for my salvation. Therefore, by His Holy Spirit He also assures me of eternal life and makes me heartily willing and ready from now on to live for Him.
|Do you have a "Quiet Time?" What are you studying?||
I try to start and end my day by listening to God’s word. I try to mix up my reading by following different reading plans. Currently I am going through Robert McCheyne’s 365 day reading plan.
|Who is your favorite Biblical Character and why?||
Other than Jesus it would David. Although he was a sinner, God testimony about him is he is a man after My own heart (Acts 13:22). David was a sinner and with God’s strength he was able to use by God. Through David’s I am reminded it isn’t by own strength but the One who lives in that will help me to be a person after God’s own heart and I will be able to fulfill David’s prayer found in Ps 27:4.
“One thing I have desired of the Lord, That will I seek:
That I may dwell in the house of the Lord All the days of my life,
To behold the beauty of the Lord, And to inquire in His temple.”
|Are you content being single? Why? If not, why?||
I am content being single because it frees me to serve Him in a different way than if I was married and had a family. But with that said, I sometimes wonder what it would be like to have a helpmate that prays for me when I am weak and I would pray for her when she is weak.
|Favorite lines from movies, poems, songs, hymns or Scripture you would like to tell us about?||
One of my hymns is I love to tell the Story and I especially like verse 3 and 4.
I love to tell the story;
’Tis pleasant to repeat
What seems each time I tell it,
More wonderfully sweet.
I love to tell the story;
For some have never heard
The message of salvation
From God’s own holy Word.
I love to tell the story;
For those who know it best
Seem hungering and thirsting
To hear it like the rest.
And when, in scenes of glory,
I sing the new, new song,
’Twill be the old, old story,
That I have loved so long.
How it all began:
I had an incurable form of cancer when I was 8. The doctors’ prognosis was I had less than 1% chance of surviving. I pleaded with God that if He would heal me of my cancer I would spend the rest of my life serving Him. Little did I know I was born spiritually dead which prevents me from fulling my promise. Therefore, when He cured my cancer, I used my own ways to full my promise. I would be involved with different ministries but when hard times came I would get discouraged and try something different.
This process went on for many years until I had an encounter with my Heavenly Father. He opened my spiritual eyes through the working of the Holy Spirit and I was able to see I was spiritually dead. I came to realize in order for me to live for His glory and to enjoy Him completely forever I would need to become spiritually alive which He can only do. Although I do not always live for His glory and enjoy Him in all aspects of my life until I meet my Father in heaven, I see the fruits of His cure. I am no longer a person who only knows how to live for himself, but a person who is learning to fully rely on the promises found in Christ.
At times I feel like the saying ”jack of all trades master of none” applies to me for I have a variety of interests. I like photography, spending time with friends and family, anything computer related. But what I like do most is spending time exploring God’s creation and studying and sharing God’s words with people around me.
