Divorced - grown adult children
Level of education:
My ideal place to live:
In a small town
My view on smoking:
I don't smoke and I don't like to be around smokers
My view on drinking:
I don't drink, but don't mind others drinking in moderation
On the subject of children:
I am an empty nester
Tell us about your family. How do you feel about relocating?:
I rejoice in the fact that both my adult kids are leading independent, successful lives on their own. I'm enjoying this "empty nest" stage in life, and thoroughly enjoy spending as much time with them as I'm able to. My parents and siblings all live in WA state - we're a little spread out, and see each other when we can.
I've lived in the PNW most of my life, and enjoy the beauty of this area, but I'm open to relocating, and going where God leads.
How old were you when you were drawn to Christ and how is your Christian walk these days?:
I grew up in a Baptist home, and grew up being in church every Sunday. I came to saving faith when I was 7 years old at a summer VBS program. I was a "good kid" while growing up, and for the most part followed my parent's faith. It wasn't until I was in college, on my own, that my faith became my own. My walk today is the most important thing to me and my hope is the way I live my life exemplifies that. I live fully dependent on God and trust that He is in control of all things. I'm a planner, and love to have my life all figured out, and God has done a mighty work in my heart, especially in learning to wait on Him and to be still. His plans are always better than mine! I have relied on Proverbs 3:5-6 these past years & have found great encouragement from them.
How have the Doctrines of Grace changed or affected your life?:
I have a high view of God and His Word is the authority in my life. They remind me for my need for Him and that I have no part in my salvation.
Do you have a "Quiet Time?" What are you studying?:
My quiet time is first things in the morning with a good cup of coffee. I'm going through a gospel devotional reading plan right now. My time with the Lord in His Word and in prayer is the most precious part of my day, and often influences the rest of my day. I often have specific people whom I'm praying for during the week, and also use my time in the car on the way to work to pray for co-workers and that God may use me in the lives of those I spend my day with.
Who is your favorite Biblical Character and why?:
Ruth. She was a poor widow, living in a foreign land, and not really an important person to many. But God saw her as important and had a plan for her life - a great example of His strength being made perfect in weakness. God often uses little things in our lives as important parts of His perfect plan
Are you content being single? Why? If not, why?:
I truly believe that Christ completes me, so if it's His Will for me to remain single, I will find contentment in that. With that being said, I desire to be married, and don't believe I have the gift of singleness. God know the desires of my heart and how I desire to be married to a godly man - it's something I pray about frequently.
What are four qualities your friends would attribute to you?:
Hospitable, good listener, patient, heart for people. (I would also say good list maker, but that would be 5 ... plus I'm a rule follower, so I'd better stick with the original 4. lol)
What are three things you are most thankful for?:
My Bible, my family, salvation.
Describe the character and personality traits you enjoy in another person? What are yours?:
Others: integrity, honesty, good communication, sense of humor, desiring to honor the Lord
Me: honest, empathetic, sense of humor, organized, kind
Other than your parents, who has been the most influential person in your life and how?:
What contributed to your previous relationship/marriage ending?:
My marriage of 24 years ended in divorce. (it ended because he committed adultery) It's a long and personal story to tell, and I would only feel comfortable sharing it once a relationship has begun to form. It's something I'm open to share with the right person, at the right time. I've learned a lot through the tragedy and heartache that God allowed to take place in my marriage, and thankfully, I've come out stronger in the end! I've learned a lot about depending fully on God and to truly put Him on the throne of my life. Praise God for strengthening my relationship with Him!
How long have you been on your own since and what did you to do get through it?:
I've been on my own for a little over 6 years now. Because I've waited a fairly substantial amount of time before getting into the dating scene, I've really taken the time to do the hard work to get to a healthy place emotionally and spiritually. Grieving the death of a marriage takes some time, and I'm grateful to have taken the time to work through the grieving process and to now be at a place where I can confidently enter into a relationship. Praise the Lord for His perfect timing in all things!!!
Favorite lines from movies, poems, songs, hymns or Scripture you would like to tell us about?:
I wish I could remember good lines from movies, but I'm just not good at remembering that stuff) lol
What type of work do/did you do?:
I've been a teacher in one capacity or another for most of my adult life. I had the privilege of being a stay at home mom for 15 years, home educating my 2 kids. I've been back in the work force for about 3 years now, as a para educator for a private agency - I work with kids with special needs and disabilities. Since all classrooms are currently not meeting in person in WA state, I'm not able to do the work I love doing. I'm hopeful that we will all be able to return to the classroom soon, and will begin experiencing some sense of normal once again.
While I wait to get back in the classroom, God has provided a wonderful job for me. What a great testimony of how He provides for us in ways we can't even imagine!
How long have you been/were you in that line of work? Do/you enjoy it?:
I think I answered that above
Do you have any life-long goals? What are they?:
To find a man who loves the Lord His God with all his heart, soul and mind. And then to marry that man. And in that marriage, we would read our Bibles together, pray for and with one another, and encourage one another in our faith. (is that too much to ask? lol) Iron sharpens iron ...
A spiritual goal is to hear my Lord and Savior say "well done, good and faithful"
Where were you born and where have you traveled?:
I was born in Southern California, but my family moved to Washington when I was 2 years old. I've lived in WA for the majority of my life, with the exception of some time in Northern CA, and also in San Antonio, TX.
Countries that I've visited are Canada, Mexico & Spain
How do you enjoy your leisure time? What do you do for recreation?:
One of my favorite activities is probably gardening in the spring and summer months. Living in the PNW, the growing season is fairly short, so I try to get in as much time digging in the dirt as I'm able. I enjoy planting (and weeding!) my organic vegetable garden and well as hanging baskets and flower beds.
I also enjoy hiking and walking on local trails. I try to get out and walk a couple miles a day when the weather is nice, and when my schedule allows. I haven't been hiking recently, and kinda think that would be more fun to do with someone instead of by myself.
I also really enjoy baking and cooking. Not so much fun to do for just one person... I would love to cook for you! I also love having friends and family over for a meal & board games. It brings me joy to open up my home and show warm hospitality. I am a little competitive when it comes to board games ... consider yourself warned! lol
Is there anything that the questionnaire didn’t cover?:
I don't think so...
I tend to be a little shy and reserved at first, and overall have a gentle and quiet spirit. I can't say I've figured out this online dating stuff, and to me, it has a bit of an awkward feel to it. But let's figure it out together, ok? I do think I have a great sense of humor, and don't take myself too seriously. (most of the time. lol) I'd say that I'm a pretty good combination of being laid back in some areas, but also driven and focused in others. It seem the older I get, the more I'm drawn towards investing in relationships, than I am to the frivolous material objects of this world.
Just for fun , some of my favorite things are ... a good cup of coffee, spending time with friends & family, soft blankets, meaningful conversations, weekend get-a ways, and playing board games.
I think I answered that already lol But feel free to ask am me anything!
