  • Tell us about your family. How do you feel about relocating?:
I am very receptive to relocating. As a matter of fact, I cannot picture myself raising a family in the hustle and bustle of the city. And on the other hand, being the daughter of a missionary pastor meant a lot of relocating for me in my early years which has made me relative to relocation. However despite this, I am very close to my parents and their close friends who have been like my uncles and while now they're spread out from Arkansas to New Jersey, to California, to Florida I really love Tennesee and Arkansas the most.
  • How old were you when you were drawn to Christ and how is your Christian walk these days?:
While I cannot pinpoint an exact age to when I converted and gave my life to Christ, I can say I was around 12 or 13. It was a time of turmoil for me because despite growing surrounded by people telling me of my sin and preaching to me the gospel of God, telling me that I was lost without God and that I needed to surrender my life to, I believed myself a Christian and as a result ignored all of the obvious signs to my need of Christ. It was around those pre-teen years that I came to the conclusion that I was headed straight to hell and that I needed a savior if I wanted something to change because I myself was unable to save myself. As of now I have been growing in my faith and walking with the Lord so that each day I can be more like him and be the Godly woman he is calling me to be.
  • How have the Doctrines of Grace changed or affected your life?:
While I grew up listening to what total depravity is, sovereign election, definite atonement, irresistible call, and perseverance of the saints, I didn't begin to dwell in it deeply until recently, when I began to research it in the Bible, it was then that I finally understood the importance of truly grasping theology as the Bible presents it and not as something relative to someone's understanding. It has led to me using different translations of the Bible in order to truly grasp the word of God as it was intended originally.
  • Do you have a "Quiet Time?" What are you studying?:
I like to have time to myself where I can study the bible and a devotional. However, I am usually found is hustle during my day full of chores, work, school, and church, leaving me little time to sit by myself in silence and study the word of God and books written by fellow children of God to help understand the word of God like the Baptist Confession of Faith of 1689. As of right now, I am re-reading the book of Romans for a second time this year. It is in fact my favorite book in the Bible. I also just finished a book called "Slaves," by John MacArthur, and I think it has been a great blessing to me.
  • Who is your favorite Biblical Character and why?:
I know this will sound cringy, but my favorite Biblical character is Esther. I know, I know, how? and why? If it was because of her being a woman why not Ruth etc. Well, Esther is my favorite Biblical character because her book teaches about women's submission to their husbands, it teaches of bravery and perseverance despite a high risk of death for coming before the King, without him first calling her. She had to be clever and brave, and have a whole lot of faith that God would be there beside her as she faced the King, her husband, and defended the Jews. Plus the fact that Esther/ Hadassah was the woman that king picked as the most beautiful in all of his kingdom, and also it just happened to be Mordecai the one who knew of the evil plans against the people of God. If you ask me none of the things in this book are coincidence as a matter of fact I believe it is an obvious sign to God's control over the situation.
  • Are you content being single? Why? If not, why?:
While I can't say that I am content with being single, I am not truly bothered by it. If anything I am bothered by not having any guys my age or slightly older that share a common belief with me. I know many free Baptists, Presbyterians, etc.. But don't have any friends guys or girls that are my age who believe in the Doctrines of Grace. My church's youth group is mostly filled by teens whose parents force to come to church and furthermore they're all younger than me.
  • What are four qualities your friends would attribute to you?:
It was quite awkward asking my friends what qualities they attributed to me, without raising weird questions, but they only said nice things which is why I would like to add a few things that they "forgot" to mention to be more real. My friends think of me as a person to whom they can rely on for advice when they need me, they think I am compassionate, trustworthy, honest, shy (at first) but annoying when I am comfortable, cheerful, random, adventurous, weird, quick-tempered (something I am working on), and a bit hard-headed.
  • What are three things you are most thankful for?:
I feel like limiting me to three things that I grateful for is a huge restriction, but I am grateful for my salvation, that had absolutely nothing to do with me and all with God whom sought me out of my sinfulness and sent his Son to die on the cross so I could be free of my slavery to sin, and instead made me a slave to him for eternity. I am also grateful for my family, which is huge, despite the majority of them being non-Christians. And I am really grateful for my parents, who have always served as examples of Godly people, with a Godly marriage. Also, their really close friends who are closer to me than even blood relatives who have also served a part in shaping me to be who I am today.
  • Describe the character and personality traits you enjoy in another person? What are yours?:
I enjoy a guy who is ready to lead, a man who is seeking God and his kingdom above all else, as I have decided to do myself. I love a person that I can debate anything and everything from theology, to politics, anything really. I am a very spontaneous person and while I feel that I need somebody to ground me sometimes I definitely think that being spontaneous is a must with me, also you have to put up with me constantly singing gospel music in the car, at home, etc..
  • Other than your parents, who has been the most influential person in your life and how?:
As I previously said my parent's closest friends, have played a big role in my being who I am. They have been columns of strength in hard times, and have been there to encourage and reprimand me throughout my growth in Christ and even before.
  • What contributed to your previous relationship/marriage ending?:
I have never been in a previous relationship because I decided from very young to keep myself till' marriage and that includes the extreme of kissing. Also as I previously stated there are no guys in my life that believe what I do and that are my age or around my age.
  • How long have you been on your own since and what did you to do get through it?:
I believe that woman must only leave her parents home when she is married and while I know that when I go to Vet School I am going to have to move away from home, I also know that even then I will still have to answer to my parents.
  • Favorite lines from movies, poems, songs, hymns or Scripture you would like to tell us about?:
I listen to a lot of gospel music more so than movies or poems. Here is a verse from one of my favorite hymns: It Is Well with My Soul "3 My sin oh, the bliss of this glorious thought! my sin, not in part, but the whole, is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more; praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul! Refrain 4 O Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight, the clouds be rolled back as a scroll; the trump shall resound and the Lord shall descend; even so, it is well with my soul. Refrain" While I love this hymn completely it is these last two verses that always leave me speechless. "16.The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17. and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together." Romans 8:16-17
  • What type of work do/did you do?:
I take care of a couple of children while their parents work. Usually, I begin their day with scripture and follow it with some biblical games. It is not a permanent thing and will be changing soon, but it is convenient while I finish College.
  • How long have you been/were you in that line of work? Do/you enjoy it?:
About a year and I can say that it is quite difficult because they are quite a hassle, however, it is truly a blessing, and I have seen it as a time of training for when I have my own horde of little ones to work with.
  • Do you have any life-long goals? What are they?:
I am on my way to finishing my Bachelor's Degree in Pre-Medicine which will be followed by Vet School, God willing. I also feel like I would at some point in my life serve as a missionary taking the gospel to places in need and also serving those communities in any way they might need, whether that is education, building, even medical care.
  • Where were you born and where have you traveled?:
I was born in Cuba and moved to the United States when I was 9 years old. Since then I have traveled around the country and visited a few other countries in the Caribean such as the Dominican Republic as well as Mexico in South America.
  • How do you enjoy your leisure time? What do you do for recreation?:
I love to do road trips with my really close family friends and family members. Those are each special and unique. I am currently planning a cross-country road trip in which we will visit old temples from America's history. I also absolutely love mountains and rivers, I would also say the beach, but that's not quite true. (Sand and saltwater are uncomfortable, I should know I live by the beach). Reading a good book is always fun too, Horseback riding even though I suck. I am also kind of an adrenaline junkie even though I can be a little scary cat. I've scratched off my bucket ist already Zip Lining, Parasailing, and a couple of other things, but I would definitely redo some of them.
  • Is there anything that the questionnaire didn’t cover?:
I feel that the questionnaire was very thorough and quite frankly I feel like I have written half my life.
  • About Me:
I am quite conservative and believe in the original design for the family. I dream of having a farm somewhere in the country with cattle and a husband who will bless me with many children both adopted and biological to enjoy it with. I am kind of scary I know, but I think that I have to be honest, and while I know that dreams and reality are two different things I also know that God's plans for my life are going to happen no matter what I want. Also, I am not afraid to dream and pray for that dream to become a reality if it is God's plan for me. Also, fun fact my name, Jocabed, is the name of Moses's mother in Spanish. Yes Jochebed in English.
