I don’t yet but I bought myself Elementary Koine Greek lessons for Christmas so I can learn and am two weeks into my study. The program I bought is designed for homeschool or private school children as part of a classical education. I figure if they can teach elementary and middle school children with it I should be able to learn it as an adult as well even if I lack a talent for foreign language. I let my pastor know and he is encouraging it; said it would open up a whole new world for me.

OH. MY. WORD. It absolutely will! Definitely persevere – it’s soooooo worth it. I took beginner Greek in college as a Bible major, and then did a refresher course at church. Now I refer to myself as a “beginner+” of Greek, haha! … slowly inching my way into intermediate with some other ladies at church. We’re meeting this Saturday to go over John 15:1-4, and WOW is this passage amazing – more so than you can ever see in “dumb ‘ol English.” πŸ˜€

I just finished Weingreen’s Hebrew grammar. Took me over a year to complete. Dabble in enough Hebrew to know the language mechanics. It is a good tool for apologetics.

    Yup.

Did my MDiv and still have some faculty with the Biblical Languages.

    How can I help?

I ask because you looked familiar and wondered if we attended Grace at the same time or if we have mutual friends. I think so!

            HAHA!

Well, I was there from 2006 to 2010. If you were there at all, we most likely know each other, or at least saw one another. I was involved with Crossroads and was the USC fellowship group shepherd, and also did a bunch of other stuff like teaching the 5-year-olds Sunday school class. That was epic fun.

I was on staff at the church and also was around the college (university now) off and on, since I had PLENTY of friends in the area (and still do).

            You TMS?

            Just jokes. TMC/TMU?

What were you a part of at GCC?

            Crossroads?

            Another fellowship group?

I’m sure we have LOTS of mutual friends.

Well, that would indeed explain it! I graduated from TMC in 2006 with my degree in Bible/Biblical Counseling. I started going to Grace in March or April of 2006 also. I was in The Foundry and in the choir. Apart from the folks in those groups I also hung out with Alex Fitzgerald. For a year or two I was also part of the hospital ministry that went to the long term children’s ward to sing to and pray for those kiddos. I moved back to NH in 2010.

I’m glad to be in NH, but I sorely miss many aspects of GCC, for sure.

Ah. You were with Kurt in the Foundry!

Were you at GCC from 2006 to 2010?

And is Alex Fitzgerald the guy who works at the pregnancy center?

I wasn’t in the choir but knew some of the choir folks, and Clayton and I were/are good friends.

I’m also glad to be back home in Canada (Vancouver area), but I definitely miss many things (mostly people) at GCC.

May the Lord bless your day!

(Was asking about who knows Greek/Hebrew mostly out of curiosity!)

        Ah.

You’re not needing help with a tattoo meaning, or some sort of bible difficulty, or a heretical relative?

That’s like 60% of what I use my languages for!

Or, maybe you’re wanting to learn and are curious about online resources?

I do know Greek and translate with a group of ladies at church. I was curious to see if any others on here do the same – ’tis all! 😁

            Awesome Possum!

You know you’re at GCC when the ladies in the small group all break out the NA/28 and start translating! HAHA!

That’s amazing and I miss that part of GCC huge.

Last time I was down there was 2015 but I still have a lot of connections there.

Actually made some slides tonight for someone who’s presenting a lecture at Shepherd’s Conference!

            HAHA!

This site is strange in that it appears that once a thread more than 6 comments deep, I cannot see them. I saw that you replied to me, but I cannot see your question.

Either way, we must have run across each other’s path.

I have more questions, but I don’t think this forum is meant to replace a chat…that we have to both pay for.

    Doh.

Doooooo it! πŸ˜‚ πŸ˜‰ Greek is easier to learn from what I understand. I’d choose Greek anyway, since that’s NT and God’s direct instruction to the Church. But I wish I knew both!!!
