I would like to have children one day
  • Tell us about your family. How do you feel about relocating?:
My parents raised me and my younger sister (who is my best friend) in the faith and we are all very close. I would consider relocating!
  • How old were you when you were drawn to Christ and how is your Christian walk these days?:
I had grown up in the church, and I was 16 when I first repented and believed, and realized I was a sinner in need of Christ, my Saviour. I have to be reminded daily to fight the good fight, give no ground to the flesh and work on sanctification till I get called home. I have to ask God daily to help me take up my cross. I'm trying to love others as He first loved us. I'm still trying to plumb the depths of God's Word--something we'll never do to the fullest in this life. I became Reformed a few years ago, coming from an Arminian/Baptist/Charismatic background.
  • How have the Doctrines of Grace changed or affected your life?:
Reformed Theology in general really made me understand the following things: - The inerrant, inspired, and utter sufficiency of Scripture as the sole, infallible rule of the Christian faith. - The sovereign, powerful, merciful, gracious, and just work of the God of The Bible to glorify Himself in the salvation of a particular people, starting with the Divine will of The Father, accomplished by the finished, atoning, sacrificial work of Jesus Christ, and finally, applied by The Holy Spirit. - God's sovereign choice in salvation: God chose and elected His children from eternity past by His divine decree. The Holy Spirit regenerates a person by hearing of The Gospel in this present time, and that person perseveres till the end because Jesus saves completely, without fail. "I will raise them up at the last day." Man, as the clay, has nothing to say to the Potter, God. We do not know the identity of the elect, so we preach The Gospel to everyone in hopes that God works in them to believe it and follow Christ.
  • Do you have a "Quiet Time?" What are you studying?:
I try to read The Bible everyday. I listen to a lot of theology podcasts/online sermons. Theology books are new for me--right now it's going slow. I want to be more of a reader.
  • Who is your favorite Biblical Character and why?:
David. Talk about God drawing a straight line with a crooked stick. Through all his failures and successes, God used David to bring glory to Himself and showcase how he graciously, justly, mercifully, and lovingly deals with His children. Sinners, and broken vessels, yet, but redeemed children as well. He was quite the music man too!
  • Are you content being single? Why? If not, why?:
I am and I'm not. I do desire to lead, serve, grow and learn with, and love a future wife, and I think I'm ready for that stage. I'm using this time of current singleness to grow and prepare for a lifelong commitment and a marriage rooted in Christ.
  • What are four qualities your friends would attribute to you?:
    Extroverted, comedic, musical, and determined.
  • What are three things you are most thankful for?:
The Triune God of Scripture: Father, Son, Holy Spirit. My family, and friends.
  • Describe the character and personality traits you enjoy in another person? What are yours?:
Sincere, loving, and kind. Luke 6:31 "Treat others the same way you want them to treat you." Optional: able to take a joke!
  • Other than your parents, who has been the most influential person in your life and how?:
My college roommate who introduced me to Reformed Theology and has been my spiritual mentor. I've been blessed by the teachings of the following Theologians: James White, John MacArthur, RC Sproul, Doug Wilson, Voddie Baucham, Steve Lawson, Paul Washer, Cornelius Van Til, and John Piper.
  • What contributed to your previous relationship/marriage ending?:
I’m sort of fresh off a breakup with a girl who I met here and in real life (I ended up flying to where she was to meet and spend time with her. She was a sweet, Godly woman. I gave a lot, and didn’t get what I wanted in return—but that’s okay. It wasn't in God's plan for me. I was ready to commit, but she wasn't. I got a lot of good things and memories from that relationship, and God sure used it to grow me into a stronger, more patient, and steadfast man—and build more trust in Him, even during the toughest times. She told me she appreciated me and the influence I had on her as well. Sure, it hurt, but I’m not going to dwell on it—I’m ready to love again. It taught me to be more patient. loving and caring towards someone I was really close with. Would I go through all of that again knowing some things are out of my control? Yes! I would love to get the chance to love someone like that again. If I hurt again, I’m going to do what I did before, and take it to my Lord for His glory, and if I find the right opportunity to go forward with a marriage, I’m going to take it to my Lord for His glory.
  • How long have you been on your own since and what did you to do get through it?:
Not long, actually--I'm still pretty fresh out of it, and hurting a little bit, though it's gotten better. This has definitely been one of those "trials" I think God is putting me through to strengthen me, make me wiser, and increase in my trust in Him. Practically, I'm gonna take it day by day, keep going about my daily responsibilities and further prepare myself for my future. I decided I'm strong enough and ready to possibly meet someone on this site again.
  • Favorite lines from movies, poems, songs, hymns or Scripture you would like to tell us about?:
Psalm 150 ("Praise The Lord".), The Hymn "I Lift My Eyes Up" (Psalm 121), As The Deer.
  • What type of work do/did you do?:
I'm an Electronics Tech by trade. In the past, I've held down various and sundry summer jobs in between my school years--everything from a grocery clerk, to fork lift driver, to telecoms linesman. Ask me about them!
  • How long have you been/were you in that line of work? Do/you enjoy it?:
Just graduated from college and about to enter into my future career! Do I enjoy being a tech?--yes and no. I'm good at numbers and can think analytically about circuits enough that I don't hate my job. I enjoy problem solving though. I would love to work for Tesla, Boeing, or any of those big, tech-y, edgy companies--the coolness factor helps!
  • Do you have any life-long goals? What are they?:
I'm at the point where I'm pretty much done school, ready to start a career, find a gal to settle, and grow and worship The Lord with, and support a family. I have other passions too--music is a big one, and furthering my career, but these would take a back seat.
  • Where were you born and where have you traveled?:
I was born in the Philippines. Moved to Canada in '03 and have stayed here since. I've been to a few states in the US, to the UK, and to Dubai.
  • How do you enjoy your leisure time? What do you do for recreation?:
Hanging out with friends, watching movies/TV, weightlifting, basketball, playing guitar/bass/drums. The people make the experiences!
  • Is there anything that the questionnaire didn’t cover?:
    Nope!
  • About Me:
Hello! I'm Neil. I'm a 24 year old tradesman, black coffee connoisseur, and sporty and musical Calvinist! Christ is Lord over all in my life. I am a citizen of heaven first, but a Filipino-Canadian, Nova Scotian who grew up in Vancouver (weird, right? I'm trying to get the Nova Scotian accent down.) This body is a slave and sacrifice offering to Christ, this mind tries to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, and this heart of flesh has been transformed by God by His grace. I'm a thinker, can be very analytical, but I'm also creative.
  • My Interests:
Theology, music, sports, film/TV (The Office, mainly) current events/politics.
