Tell us about your family. How do you feel about relocating?

I love to be near my family, but I don’t mind moving.

I have four older siblings (one sister and three brothers), many nieces and nephews, and three in-laws. I love each one of them as well as my parents more than I can explain. I was home educated, so, when I was growing up, I saw them more than anybody else and that made us closer than I am to anyone else even now. I have since developed many close friendships outside my family, but my siblings and parents are still my closest friends and confidants.

How old were you when you were drawn to Christ and how is your Christian walk these days?

I do not remember. I grew up in a reformed church, and my parents were very intentional in their training of my siblings and I. There was never a time that I remember not knowing about who God and Christ were, what the Bible said, and what it meant to be saved.

Nowadays, is would say that I am still a reformed Christian who loves to read God’s word and theology books 🙂 (my favorite authors are John Piper, RC Sproul, Sinclair Ferguson, John Newton, and a new addition has been Elizabeth Elliot). Like many other people, there are days on which I feel very close to God on a mountain and days on which I feel far far away in a valley. However, God is sovereign over everything and everyone. I know that I can continually return to His word to be reminded of the truths to which my feelings should conform instead of letting them be tossed and turned day to day (“And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” -Matthew 28:20). The more I learn about the holiness of God and the sinfulness and falleness of my heart, I grow more and more in awe of his grace and forgiveness that is only possible through Christ.

How have the Doctrines of Grace changed or affected your life?

I am amazed by God’s love: although he could not be near us because of our sin and His holiness, He sent Christ to die so that we could be completely forgiven. He showed us mercy when we deserved none, and He then draws His elect to Himself because He knows that on our own, in our estate of sin, we would never choose Him without Him first changing the desires of our heart. He did it all: “For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever.” -Romans 11:36. It makes me want to praise, glorify, and serve my King everyday for the rest of my life.

Do you have a "Quiet Time?" What are you studying?

Yes, I do! I have been reading through Matthew as well as a Don’t Waste Your Life  by John Piper and another by John Newton.

Who is your favorite Biblical Character and why?

Honestly, I don’t know if I have one. God (who includes Jesus) is not just a character of the Bible because He is also the author. As for other people in the Bible, I haven’t particularly thought about it. When I was little, David was my favourite Biblical character because he had the exciting and intriguing stories full of dramatic chases and powerful salvations. I still admire Him now though because of his heart: God said that David was a man after His own heart. David sinned and did many things for which he would have been shunned in almost any time period, but each time he genuinely repented (“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me…The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.” -Psalm 51:10‭, ‬17) and recognized that his sin was against God and Him alone.

Are you content being single? Why? If not, why?

I strive to be content and have joy in any circumstance, and God has made me single during this time. I am not content always being single. Some days feel easier than others, but I am so thankful for the relationships I do have with my family and friends. I have been pruned by God during this time and continually reminded to look to Him as my deepest joy whether I am married or single. But that being said, I do wish to be married.

What are four qualities your friends would attribute to you?

Randomly goofy and occasionally funny (what did I saw funny? I meant punny. I love a good play-on-words. But I mean how do the actors get onto the words?? Seems like a small stage to me), but also analytical as well as an ambivert.

What are three things you are most thankful for?

God, my family, and a nice fuzzy blankee or books… or a fireplace. Oooooo, that is tough

Describe the character and personality traits you enjoy in another person? What are yours?

I love to be around someone who is confident, content, and genuine.

Other than your parents, who has been the most influential person in your life and how?

My brother has the most influence in my life. He is four years older than me (my closest sinking by age as well), and he challenges me in my faith, encourages me to learn more about God, and always inspires me to be more than I am in order to glorify God.

What contributed to your previous relationship/marriage ending?

I have not dated anyone before.

Favorite lines from movies, poems, songs, hymns or Scripture you would like to tell us about?

“You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.” -1 Corinthians 6:19‭-‬20

“For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.” -2 Corinthians 4:17‭-‬18

What type of work do/did you do?

Besides being a student, I worked on a diary farm a few days a week for four years.

How long have you been/were you in that line of work? Do/you enjoy it?

I loved it. I loved getting to move around for work instead of sitting down as well as getting to breath fresh air and work with the cows.

I also got to know my boss and his daughter very well through many great conversations ranging from church to pie to the culture to books. I respect them very much because of their willingness to do anything and their uncomplaining hard work every day year after year.

Do you have any life-long goals? What are they?

I want to be a wife and mother. If that does not come about, I would like to work in engineering and go towards computer science work if possible, and with free time I would like to cultivate friendships and mentorships with younger friends.

Where were you born and where have you traveled?

I was born and raised in the beautiful river valley city of Winona, MN.

But I’ve traveled to California, Georgia, Colorado, and Virginia to visit my siblings and extended family.

How do you enjoy your leisure time? What do you do for recreation?

I love to do active things with friends like biking, spikeball, and volleyball (or any other sport) as well as reading. Or just meeting for coffee in the winter.

Is there anything that the questionnaire didn’t cover?

I love to read theology, philosophy and historical fiction, but I will read almost anything if a friend recommends it so that I can discuss it with them.
