Single - Never Married
Cal Poly, SLO
Level of education:
My ideal place to live:
On the coast
My view on smoking:
I am a non-smoker
My view on drinking:
I rarely drink
On the subject of children:
I would like to have children one day
How old were you when you were drawn to Christ and how is your Christian walk these days?:
I was in high school when I came to Christ. The Lord sovereignly used the trials and the people in my life to draw me to Himself. Feel free to ask me more about this if you're interested.
How have the Doctrines of Grace changed or affected your life?:
It has changed/affected every aspect of my life. Mainly, how my mind understands the rest of the world, that is, through a biblical perspective. Quoting Romans 12... "do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind" This is an area I will be growing in daily for the rest of my life.
Do you have a "Quiet Time?" What are you studying?:
Recently I've been reading Jeremiah and going through a plan that goes through the Psalms and Proverbs in a month (5 psalms a day, 1 proverb). I've been reading several books as well. Most recently, I am studying prayer--reading Martin Lloyd Jones' book on the Lord's Prayer -- book 1 is just on the first five verses!
Who is your favorite Biblical Character and why?:
I don't have one favorite character but I want to highlight here Ruth. I resonate with her loyalty and devotion to Naomi when she says in Ruth 1:16 "But Ruth said, 'Do not urge me to leave you or to return from following you. For where you go I will go, and where you lodge I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God my God..."
Are you content being single? Why? If not, why?:
God does not promise marriage for all his children but I also know He created us to be relational beings. I am content because that's where I am at in life at the moment. Instead of wishing I could be in a stage of life I'm not, I can choose to enjoy my singleness and think of ways to serve the Lord where others might not be able to because they have a spouse and/or kids to take care of.
What are four qualities your friends would attribute to you?:
Funny, easygoing, loving, and sincere
What are three things you are most thankful for?:
(1) I am thankful that the Lord pursued me and drew me to himself (and is continuing to draw me to himself). Without His initiative, I know I would not be where I am today.
(2) I am also thankful for the trials and tribulations I've experienced. I wasn't exactly thankful for them during the time but the Lord used them to grow me in my faith and to make it more evident that I need to cling to His Word and His strength on a daily basis.
(3) Lastly, I am thankful for the church the Lord brought me into. They are sinners just like me who are united in Christ in spite of differences because we have tasted and seen that the Lord is good.
Describe the character and personality traits you enjoy in another person? What are yours?:
I enjoy getting to know people's quirkiness and watching the Lord grow them in their faith. There's so much brokenness in this world and to see someone cling to Christ and the truths He leaves us in His Word is such an encouragement.
A little about me, I can be very sarcastic, funny (both dumb and nerdy jokes), adventurous, spontaneous, musical, and I love learning about all sorts of things. So I tend enjoy similar traits and qualities in others. I tend to be a deep thinker as well so I love having deep conversations with people.
Other than your parents, who has been the most influential person in your life and how?:
I have friends that have become some of the most influential people in my life. It was their faith in the Lord and their pursuit of Him that encourages me to lean into Christ myself. They weren't just Christians on Sundays. No, they lived it out in their daily lives. And as I got to know them more, I saw just how God is integral in all aspect of life. I am thankful the Lord brought them (and others) into my life so that I can learn more about Him in community.
Favorite lines from movies, poems, songs, hymns or Scripture you would like to tell us about?:
"Our worst days are never so bad that you are beyond the reach of God's grace. And your best days are never so good that you are beyond the need of God's grace." -Jerry Bridges
"Everything is necessary that he sends, nothing can be necessary that he withholds." -John Newton
Do you have any life-long goals? What are they?:
Love the Lord my God with all my heart, all my soul and all my mind. Everything else will fall into place.
Where were you born and where have you traveled?:
I was born in the Philippines and I moved to California half way through 3rd grade and have been here since. The only places I've been to outside of the US aside from the Philippines is Israel.
How do you enjoy your leisure time? What do you do for recreation?:
I like to read Christian books. From apologetics to topical books, I pray that the things I learn will actually stick. But sometimes I just have to learn the same lessons more than once!
I am also very passionate about music. I want to have an album someday (may or may not be published, although at that point, I'd probably want to share it with others!) I play the piano and guitar, and if I could I would learn all sorts of instruments (flute and drums, for example). I've been learning how to use Logic Pro X and a little bit of music theory to get me started.
Hi there! I never thought I would join a site like this but here I am. Mixed feelings are coming up as I write this. I got acquainted with this site through a friend and thought it couldn't hurt to get on it. I don't have any expectations other than potentially getting to know some awesome people on here. What encouraged me was the idea of getting to know someone I otherwise would never have met so we'll see happens!
