Tell us about your family. How do you feel about relocating?

I am incredibly close to my family and I was blessed to grow up in a Christian home, never knowing a day when I did not know Christ and cling to Him as my Lord and Savior.

I would prefer to stay fairly close to my family, as I love them dearly. That said, I am willing to go wherever the Lord leads me. I believe that a wife should submit to her husband and that includes following where he goes. And so I am willing to follow a spouse where he would ask me to. I would love to see more of this world that God created.

How old were you when you were drawn to Christ and how is your Christian walk these days?

As I said above, I grew up with faithful Christian parents and all of my siblings follow Christ. I remember praying some sort of prayer asking Jesus into my heart when I was probably 4 or 5, but I also remember not really thinking it was necessary: Jesus had already claimed me.

I am growing every day in my knowledge of the Lord and in love for Him. I am far from where I want to be (and where I know God wants me to be) but by His grace I am being shaped more and more every day into the image of His Son.

How have the Doctrines of Grace changed or affected your life?

They have more than affected my life – they are the substance of that life. Apart from the grace of God, there is no salvation, no remission of sins, no escape from guilt and shame.

Do you have a "Quiet Time?" What are you studying?

Yes! I am participating in a Bible Reading Challenge through my church where we read through the Bible in a nine-month period.

Who is your favorite Biblical Character and why?

Saying that Christ is my favorite Biblical character seems far too trite. He is my Savior.

Job and Peter.

Ask me why.

Are you content being single? Why? If not, why?

Yes. And no.

It’s been a long struggle, but I can honestly say that I am content with where God has me right now, ONLY because His plans are perfect and He works all things for good. That being said, contentment does not mean that I don’t have desires. I deeply desire to be a godly wife and mother. I would drop everything in a heartbeat in order to serve as a helpmeet to the right man, to raise his children and make his house. But I trust that God will bring along the right person at the right time, that His timing is perfect, that His will is working in and through my life right now.

What are four qualities your friends would attribute to you?

1) Joyful/cheerful

2) Loyal

3) Intelligent/academic (i.e. I like to read and learn and do nerdy things such as use “i.e.” in answering a question like this…)

4) Creative

What are three things you are most thankful for?

1) My family and friends

2) My pastor and church

3) The world and everything in it (from blue whales to blueberries, from crab nebula to carpenter ants… and, yes, I know this is totally cheating the question, but really ONLY three things???)

Describe the character and personality traits you enjoy in another person? What are yours?

Clearly the most important thing is a shared love for God and desire to pursue Him above all else. I enjoy people who are passionate about what they are doing, who have goals and determination. I enjoy people who make me excited about what they love. People who are kind and considerate, who are good listeners and clearly care about the people they are talking to… those are the people that I most enjoy being around.

I tend to be somewhat more introverted, though I have been pushed in this area in recent years. I do love people and being around them, but I recharge by having quiet time, either alone or with my family/roommates. I am honest and cheerful and I severely dislike the drama caused by miscommunication, assumptions, or dishonesty.

Other than your parents, who has been the most influential person in your life and how?

My pastor, Douglas Wilson, and his wife, Nancy. Also their children – Nate Wilson, Bekah Merkle, and Rachel Jankovic.

What contributed to your previous relationship/marriage ending?

How long have you been on your own since and what did you to do get through it?

Favorite lines from movies, poems, songs, hymns or Scripture you would like to tell us about?

“Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.” – Proverbs 31:25-27

“As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.” – Ps. 17:15

“For I know that my Redeemer lives, And He shall stand at last on the earth; And after my skin is destroyed, this I know, That in my flesh I shall see God, Whom I shall see for myself, And my eyes shall behold, and not another.” – Job 19:25-27

“I would maintain that thanks are the highest form of thought; and that gratitude is happiness doubled by wonder.” – G. K Chesterton

“The word “good” has many meanings. For example, if a man were to shoot his grandmother at a range of five hundred yards, I should call him a good shot, but not necessarily a good man.” – G. K. Chesterton

“To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket, safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. To love is to be vulnerable.”― C.S. Lewis, The Four Loves

“A man can no more diminish God’s glory by refusing to worship Him than a lunatic can put out the sun by scribbling the word ‘darkness’ on the walls of his cell.”― C.S. Lewis, The Problem of Pain

“I’m on Aslan’s side even if there isn’t any Aslan to lead it. I’m going to live as like a Narnian as I can even if there isn’t any Narnia.”― C.S. Lewis, The Silver Chair

What type of work do/did you do?

Full time teaching! (see above)

How long have you been/were you in that line of work? Do/you enjoy it?

Since fall 2019 and I absolutely love it. I see myself teaching long-term, whether that be by continuing at a classical Christian school or homeschooling my own children or a combination thereof.

Do you have any life-long goals? What are they?

Serve God until my last breath of this world’s air and into the next. Write words that sing and, perhaps, inspire others. Marry a good and godly man and raise godly children who have his smile and my eyes and who will love God all their days and raise their children to do the same. And when my days are done, die in hope, looking to Christ, the Author and finisher of my faith.

Where were you born and where have you traveled?

I was born in Pasadena, California but moved to Idaho with my parents when I was two… so I consider myself a native Idahoan. I have been living in Moscow since 2011.

I have traveled around the PNW and along the west coast. I have also been to Florida twice (Orlando area and the Gulf Coast), England twice, Scotland, and Hawaii. I’d love to travel more as time and money allow.

How do you enjoy your leisure time? What do you do for recreation?

What is this leisure time you speak of? 🙂 But really, I don’t have much free time, but I use enjoying many of the things listed below. Or you could ask, I suppose.

Is there anything that the questionnaire didn’t cover?

I hold firmly to paedobaptism. I want to have lots of babies and baptize them. All of them.

My pastor is Douglas Wilson.

I like puns.

I’m finishing my third college degree. Does that help or hurt my cause?

I fully believe in submission of the wife to the husband. I also believe that men and women are fundamentally different and have different, biblically assigned roles. That being said, I also believe that I am called to use my gifts and talents to God’s glory. And any man who comes along is going to have to be willing to interrupt my “plans.” Because I have them, I’m going full-steam ahead, but I’m also very ready to be interrupted…

Also, I do believe that it is the man’s role to pursue and the woman’s role to be pursued. Therefore, initial contact (particularly through messaging) I believe to be the man’s prerogative.

About Me

My name is Christiana Hale. I am a writer and a teacher and a student. I am a daughter and a sister and a friend. I am a sinner, but I am also forgiven. I serve a God who is mighty to save.

My Interests

I love to read and write – I write because I am written. I also love to teach (mostly literature and history). I also love the outdoors and love to go hiking when I get a chance. I have 2 sisters (one older and one younger… yes, I am the dreaded middle daughter) and a little brother. I love to sing and cook and go stargazing. I danced for many years and still do the Virginia Reel at weddings. I love poetry and medieval literature and languages and art and mangoes.

Also puns. Many puns.

But I dislike pickles and olives. So there’s that.
