Tell us about your family. How do you feel about relocating?

My immediate family currently lives all over the place, so “home” is a bit relative, but it’s a blast when we are all together.  I’m a PK and am blessed to have incredible parents who have consistently and humbly lived out their faith all my life.  I’m the oldest of 5, and I’m quite close to all my siblings, even though we live far apart.  I am open to relocating, though I really do like living in Colorado.

How old were you when you were drawn to Christ and how is your Christian walk these days?

I was 12 when I surrendered my life to Christ.  Since then, the Lord has been faithful to grow me and draw me nearer to Himself, whether through challenges or seasons of peace and prosperity.  He has been so good and gracious, despite my failures and weaknesses, and He has always provided everything I need to know and love Him better.

How have the Doctrines of Grace changed or affected your life?

I was first introduced to these doctrines, namely the doctrine of election, when I was in high school. Initially I was incredibly frustrated after investigating passages like Romans 9 and Ephesians 1, for I could not reconcile a good God with the picture these verses painted of God and election.  However, over the next year and a half,  the Lord started to speak to my heart and reveal examples of His sovereign choice all throughout Scriptures.  He showed me how undeserving anyone is of grace, and how His choice of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Israel had nothing to do with their own merit or wisdom; rather, He chose them simply because He is God and He is gracious.  As I relinquished my own ideas of who I thought God should be, my eyes were opened to the beautiful and marvelous truth that I am truly not able to chose God, but He is the One who initiated and worked the miracle of faith in my heart.  I can completely trust that His plan will always be accomplished, for He is sovereign over everything.  I also don’t have to take on the responsibility of convincing anyone to follow Christ; rather, I only need to be obedient to share the gospel and ask the Holy Spirit to awaken dead hearts to receive eternal life in Christ.

Do you have a "Quiet Time?" What are you studying?

Yes, I try to every morning, even if it’s just for 10-15 minutes before work.  I’m currently reading through the Bible, with a couple passages in the OT and NT each day.

Who is your favorite Biblical Character and why?

My favorite character is Esther because she is an incredible example of Biblical womanhood, obedience, and courage.

Are you content being single? Why? If not, why?

I have had seasons of contentment and discontentment in my singleness, which I realize is dependent on my current source for hope and joy.  However, my desire for marriage and family has not waned through the years, so I am trusting the Lord to provide whatever is best and will bring Him glory with those desires.

What are four qualities your friends would attribute to you?

friendly, adventurous, dedicated, curious

What are three things you are most thankful for?

my family! my community of friends; the beauty of creation

Describe the character and personality traits you enjoy in another person? What are yours?

honesty, sense of humor, adventurous, good listener, leadership, humility

Other than your parents, who has been the most influential person in your life and how?

My best friend from college has been very influential in my life over the past decade because the Lord has used her to continually and unashamedly speak truth into my life.  We have also walked through some challenging life seasons together, which deepened our friendship and grew us in faith and character.

What contributed to your previous relationship/marriage ending?

I haven’t had many serious relationships, and those that did not progress were due to differences in life direction/calling or theological beliefs.

Favorite lines from movies, poems, songs, hymns or Scripture you would like to tell us about?

Jim Elliot- “He is no fool who gives up what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose.”

Elisabeth Elliot – “If your goal is purity of heart, be prepared to be thought very odd.”

2 Corinthians 12:9-10

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. “

What type of work do/did you do?

How long have you been/were you in that line of work? Do/you enjoy it?

I just finished my 9th year of teaching.  I have taught many things, but my favorite was been teaching English to non native speakers.  This past fall I began a master degree that will quality me for this type of teaching within Colorado.

Do you have any life-long goals? What are they?

become bilingual, get my masters in TESOL, learn to play the guitar

Where were you born and where have you traveled?

I was born in Southern California, and I lived there until I was 13, when my family moved to Tennessee.  We lived there for 5 years, then moved to North Carolina.  After I graduated from college in South Carolina, I taught for a year in North Carolina, then moved to the Czech Republic to teach at a Christian International School.  After 3 years of living/teaching there, I moved to Vietnam and taught there for 2 years.  I moved back to the States about 3 years ago, lived in North Carolina for a couple months, and finally moved out to Colorado a little over two years ago.

How do you enjoy your leisure time? What do you do for recreation?

I love being outside and all the activities that come with it! Hiking, running, biking, rock climbing, hammocking, etc.  I also like to read, a mixture of fiction and spiritual living books, and it’s always fun to discuss what I’m reading and learning with friends.  I enjoy a good game or movie night, but I also like going out and exploring new places and trying new things.
