I'm not entirely certain what it was that I ate, so my incredulity has only increased.

  • Tell us about your family. How do you feel about relocating?:
I was lucky enough to grow up in a God-fearing nuclear family. Everybody's spread out now, and things have gotten a lot more complicated over time, but we're still pretty close. As far as moving goes, I'd go anywhere with the right girl.
  • How old were you when you were drawn to Christ and how is your Christian walk these days?:
I grew up surrounded by Christianity, so I'm not sure when my spiritual journey began. I think the first time I really felt the impact of the Gospel was the first time I went to Hume Lake in middle school. I was old enough then to understand the weight of sin and the goodness of Grace. As somebody who has become really interested in apologetics, the fact that I didn't need any persuading says a lot about where I was at the moment. I've really never been good at answering the "How is your walk" question. I think we tend to judge our current spiritual condition on the basis of whether we feel close to God or not, which doesn't seem quite right. Good? I guess?
  • How have the Doctrines of Grace changed or affected your life?:
I grew up in a church environment that was very positive and doctrinally sound, but Reformed Theology wasn't talked about explicitly (at least, not that I remember). I was only really introduced to it in college (Biola) where talking about Calvinism was considered an intramural activity. I like to take my time when forming opinions about things that matter, so it did take a few years for me to come around, but once I heard RC Sproul's series on Romans 9 it was all over. It would be impossible to get into all the ways the sovereignty of God has influenced my life; it's too fundamental to everything He is. But I do know that dealing with insecurity and rejection related to my perpetual singleness has been a lot easier knowing that the patient God Who loves me is in control. Also, I love my semi-Pelagian brothers and sisters, but I have no idea how they aren't extremely neurotic basically all the time. I'm just glad I don't have to deal with all that.
  • Do you have a "Quiet Time?" What are you studying?:
I spend about 15-20 minutes in scripture meditation every day (or at least I try). I also just found an app with all of Spurgeon's sermons. About 3,000+, so that's kept me pretty busy.
  • Who is your favorite Biblical Character and why?:
I don't know if I would say he's my favorite, but Boaz has become something of a role model for me. He did everything he did for Ruth's own sake (within reason) without expecting anything in return. He seems genuinely surprised that she's interested at all, which suggests he wasn't really planning on that. The whole book of Ruth is great for singles, by the way. Good stuff.
  • Are you content being single? Why? If not, why?:
Trusting God with my singleness has been the greatest challenge of my life. I've had a really difficult time in the past, and I don't think the longing will ever leave me, but I have seen a lot of pruning and maturing and encouragement over the last several years. I've gotten to be pretty Zen about it all, I think.
  • What are four qualities your friends would attribute to you?:
Wit, honesty, book learnin', and an almost encyclopedic knowledge of Zap Brannigan quotes.
  • Describe the character and personality traits you enjoy in another person? What are yours?:
I really like a girl with a great sense of humor, intelligence, and gentleness - but, more than anything else, I've been increasingly impressed by the importance of a genuine affection for Christ. I live in the Mecca of Mormonism, so most of the people I see only think they know Him. But I know how much support and prayer and wisdom I need on a daily basis, and there's no way I'm getting that from someone who isn't mature in their faith.
  • Other than your parents, who has been the most influential person in your life and how?:
RC Sproul is the greatest theologian of the last 50 years. There, I said it. I've also found John Piper to be extremely helpful to me over the past several months. Also also, I've met James White in person. He was very nice.
  • What contributed to your previous relationship/marriage ending?:
I've never been in a relationship before, so probably bad timing, Providence, immaturity, and whatever convinced me it was a good idea to share a date that one time. Stories- I've got them.
  • Favorite lines from movies, poems, songs, hymns or Scripture you would like to tell us about?:
"You heard about Pluto? That's messed up, right?" "You don't understand anything, man. Leave your stupid comments in your pocket!" "Ladies and gentlemen, this is your stewardess speaking... We regret any inconvenience the sudden cabin movement might have caused, this is due to periodic air pockets we encountered, there's no reason to become alarmed, and we hope you enjoy the rest of your flight... By the way, is there anyone on board who knows how to fly a plane?"
  • What type of work do/did you do?:
I am a Master of the Janitorial Arts (Ladies, please form a single-file line).
  • How long have you been/were you in that line of work? Do/you enjoy it?:
I've been doing this for almost a year now. I actually really enjoy the work because it gives me long periods of silence when I can let my mind wander (which, for someone with ADD, is really nice) and I can listen to podcasts and music the entire time if I want. However, as an ADD kid, I realize I can't really progress very far in any career path that I'm not inherently interested in (and I'd be lying if I said it doesn't bother me that this is the highest up the ladder I've been able to go), so I'm working on transitioning to something more my speed. Plus, I do want to be able to provide for my future family, so I've got a lot of motivation, if it helps.
  • Where were you born and where have you traveled?:
I grew up in Sacramento, but I've travelled to about half the states and three countries (Mexico, Canada, Jamaica).
  • About Me:
I've never tried online dating before. I don't know what any of these buttons are for. Also, I would just like to point out that "dad bod" was not a build type option.

If anyone is interested in contacting me but can't do it on here, I think it would be a Capital idea to read these verses:

"Fools, because of their rebellious way, and because of their iniquities, were afflicted."
“But we believe that we are saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus, in the same way as they also are.”

“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
"You shall break them with a rod of iron, You shall shatter them like earthenware.”
"Also the fountains of the deep and the floodgates of the sky were closed, and the rain from the sky was restrained;"
"Now a river flowed out of Eden to water the garden; and from there it divided and became four rivers."

"Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses were looking on to see where He was laid."
"Can mankind be just before God? Can a man be pure before his Maker?"
"Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I am a virgin?”
"Anyone who is found will be thrust through, and anyone who is captured will fall by the sword."
"Return, O LORD, rescue my soul; save me because of Your lovingkindness."
"Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it."
"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth."
"Nicodemus (he who came to Him before, being one of them) said to them,"
