Tell us about your family. How do you feel about relocating?:
I’m the oldest of 4. Most of my immediate family is in CA. It’s hard to see myself relocating right now but I’m willing to have a conversation about it. I’m reluctant mainly for two reasons. (1)- I have a good job with great security and opportunities in the area (2)- I have a desire to one day be an elder/pastor at my local church; so relocating makes the former difficult to obtain somewhere else, and the latter impossible to fulfill.
How old were you when you were drawn to Christ and how is your Christian walk these days?:
I was drawn to Christ around the age of 7. My life & walk with Him have had it's ups and downs since then, but I've steadily grown in the Lord and the past few years have been the strongest of my Christian walk.
Do you have a "Quiet Time?" What are you studying?:
Yes, I’m currently going through the book of Psalms.
Who is your favorite Biblical Character and why?:
There are many great characters in the Bible, but my favorite would have to be Paul and for a few key reasons. His conversion- That he was persecuting the children of God and yet was blinded by his zeal and sinful heart thinking that he was doing the work of God. It’s amazing to see how bold and obedient he was following his vision of the risen Lord. His mind- He was certainly a brilliant man and I love how he formulates many of his teachings in a structured and logical form (the book of Romans being the greatest example). He clearly was a great writer and thinker and I’m thankful that God used someone like him to write as many letters as he did. They’ve been a treasure to read and learn from in God’s Word. His heart- In the logic and great doctrinal instruction taught throughout his letters, it might be hard to miss his passion and heart for those he wrote to. I think the best examples for this are 2 Corinthians, Philippians, Philemon and 1/2 Timothy (especially when reading each one in one sitting). I love the father/son relationship he had with Timothy and his affection for him as partner in the gospel and a true son in the common faith. I especially like 2 Corinthians because you can see Paul’s heart torn for them, he truly loved them. He seemed to go back and forth between praise, correction and encouragement but you just sense his passion for their growth in the Lord (whether it caused him joy or frustration).
Are you content being single? Why? If not, why?:
Yes and no. The Lord has decreed what will happen in my life- He is good and just. I am called to love and obey Him through any circumstance; to trust that He is not only in control but is using all things for good in my life. I have a healthy and godly desire to be married and have a family someday. I believe that I am ready to be married and trying to pursue that desire by being here.Proverbs 16:9 “A person’s heart plans his way, but the LORD determines his steps. ”Proverbs 19:21 “Many plans are in a person’s heart, but the LORD’S decree will prevail.”
What are four qualities your friends would attribute to you?:
I asked over a dozen people and the most common answers were Intelligent, Kind, Dedicated & Passionate.
What are three things you are most thankful for?:
Other than the obvious of Christ and salvation in Him; the other three would be: (1)- The opportunity and privilege to serve God and be useful for His kingdom (2)- The Church and fellowship among brothers and sisters in the Lord (few things in this world, if any, bring me such great joy as fellowship with the Body of Christ). (3)- God’s Word and all the wonderful teachings it contains.
Describe the character and personality traits you enjoy in another person? What are yours?:
Quite simply, I really enjoy people I can connect with intellectually, emotionally and spiritually.
Other than your parents, who has been the most influential person in your life and how?:
I have two in mind that warrant an answer- Jeremy & Dave. Jeremy and I met first week in college (pretty neat story actually if you’re curious) and we instantly became close friends. He’s been my best friend ever since and we have been a source of edification, encouragement, correction and true brotherly affection to each other for over 11 years now. I’ve known Dave since I left college (~3.5 years) and in many ways (outside of Christ obviously), he has been the most important person in my life. There is so much to be said (and I’d love to share more so feel free to ask) but I’ll just give a quick summary here: I met him the first day I attended my church and he (and his wife) were the leaders of the young professionals group that I joined at the time and now help lead. He is an elder at my church and he has fulfilled that role in my life personally as he has shepherd and discipled me immediately after I joined the church. I’ve been blessed to have many mature & older godly men from church mentor me and be a “Paul” to me, but Dave has by far been the greatest influence. When I’ve needed him the most, he’s been a father, friend, mentor and true brother in Christ.
